Kurt Russell to play Star-Lord's SuperDad

If you're an 80s kid, Kurt Russell has been a pretty steady part of your cinematic life. His acting career dates back to the mid-sixties where he was a child actor, even starring in his own show. He, later on, moved into movies (if you got the Superdad reference; you are a true movie geek) and by the 80s he was a household name starring in Escape from New York, The Thing and one of his most well known films; Big Trouble in Little China

My first Kurt Russell movie was Stargate, my dad and I watch it once and made it a tradition to watch it every year during the holidays. Some families had The Grinch and The Sound of Music, we had aliens and a portal to another world. It was there that my respect for Kurt and his acting chops developed. I wasn't a fanboy, but if he was in a movie; I was willing to give it a chance. A couple years later I watched Kurt and Val Kilmer in the movie that would inspired my alias of Doc Holidae; Tombstone. A western about the shootout at the O.K. Coral, Kurt played Wyatt Earp, a law man with something to prove and Val played his best friend and sidekick; John Henry "Doc" Holliday. The team did not disappoint and the film went on to make twice its budget.

Skip ahead a few years and Kurt is cast as the dad in the teen hero movie Sky High. He wasn't the lead, so there wasn't much pressure on him to stand out but he was really good as middle mannered Steve Stronghold; alter ego to his superhero character; The Commander. Kurt played the father figure whose son just started studying as a school for super powered beings.

Why all this build up? Well, if you're going to cast the Dad to a character as amazing as Star-Lord and make it someone who can hold his own, whether it be action, comedy, or intense moments that need sarcasm; Kurt Russell is one of the best actors you could cast. I've listed a few of his movies in this piece because I'm hoping you'll all go back and watch some of them yourselves. I'm not telling you Kurt is a Hollywood legend, but he can command a scene and sometimes steal one when you aren't paying attention (I.E. Mr. Nobody in Furious 7).
